This is a website for Parents to find a Dyslexia Tutor for their children.
Hi, my name is Ms. Kamm and I am a Dyslexia Tutor. I work in the Portland, Oregon region and would like to introduce myself.
I have been a teacher for over 40 years and have been tutoring students with dyslexia for over 14 of these years.
My education includes a bachelor degree in English Literature and a Masters in reading education from the University of Portland. Along with my education, I have a Reading Specialist endorsement from the U of P.

My last 14 years as a Dyslexia Tutor has been spent with the Blosser Center of Portland where I became an Associate Tutor and continued forward for Clinical Certified status. I also was a Title 1 tutor for the Portland Public Schools as a Dyslexia Tutor in many of our public schools. Most recently, I tutored at The Madeleine School in the Irvington district where I spent much of my time with students of all abilities needing extra for their dyslexia learning styles.
is reaching the student. This would be better explained by relating to the student at their current learning ability. When a child with dyslexia is discovered, the child will need specific focus and attention to become aware of their learning needs and how their unique style of learning benefits them. The process can take time, but with the right approach and encouragement, the child can thrive and pursue education in any direction once the barriers to their learning are overcome.
In order to establish that someone has dyslexia, typically, a meeting with a licensed Psychologist who is trained to question and identify dyslexia is necessary as a first step.
From there, special and unique curriculum to the student will be developed according to their specific needs. Weekly meetings, at least once a week, then commence toward the goal of teaching the student learning styles and pathways to deal and overcome what may feel like impossible hurdles toward learning.
